Notice: AIA/SCS 2018 Meeting Hotel Reservation Scam
Here is an important notice from the Archaeological Institute of America:
We are writing to inform you that past presenters and attendees are being targeted by a housing scam for the 2018 AIA/SCS Joint Annual Meeting in Boston. We have already received reports of telephone calls from individuals representing companies offering to make hotel reservations for attendees. These individuals are operating without the consent of either Society and are fraudulently representing themselves as AIA/SCS, the Boston Marriott Copley Place, the The Westin Copley Place, Boston, or a housing service hired to process reservations for the joint annual meeting. They are not authorized in any way by the Societies to handle annual meeting hotel reservations and have no special access to our discounted group block at the Hilton.
No one at AIA, SCS, the Marriott, or Westin will ever call you via telephone asking you to book a hotel room, and you will not receive a solicitation via email from any of our affiliated hotels. Full details on accomodations for the 2018 Annual Meeting will be posted on the websites of both organizations in late summer 2017.
The Societies would like to hear from any member who has been approached in this way. Please write to Kevin Mullen (firstname.lastname@example.org) or
Cherane Ali (Cherane.Ali@nyu.edu).
